Fernanda Valadez is a director, screenwriter and producer born and raised in Guanajuato, Mexico. Her debut feature Identifying Features (2020), co-written and produced by Astrid Rondero, received numerous awards at festivals, including Sundance, Lima, San Sebastian, Thessaloniki, and Morelia, where it earned both the Eye Award for Best Mexican Feature and the Audience Award. The film also received the Gotham Award for Best International Feature, and nine Ariel Awards from the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMACC), including best debut feature and best production.
Notable works as a producer include the short Stillwater (2011) and the narrative feature The Darkest Days of US (Astrid Rondero, 2017) nominated to an Ariel and recipient of various awards, including Best Film at the Santo Domingo Outfest.
She is currently working with her creative partner Astrid Rondero on the feature film Sujo.
